Are you ready? Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A is coming up on July 14th! The kids love it, so we are prepping to go. You can check out my past post here on how to DIY a quick costume using items you may already have around the house.

Every customer who dresses like a cow can receive one free entrée from the following list, subject to availability*:

Breakfast: Chick-fil-A® Chicken Biscuit (Original) or 4-count Chick-n-Minis®.
Lunch/Dinner: Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich (Original or Spicy); 8-count Nuggets (Original or Grilled); or 3-count Chick-n-Strips.
Kids: A 5-count Nuggets Kids’ Meal (Original or Grilled), which includes a side, drink, and premium.

San Diego Area Upcoming Free E-bike Safety Courses!

There are so many kids (and adults) in my area riding e-bikes and scooters as of late and some of them aren’t wearing helmets. It’s scary! As a parent and someone who works with kids, I’ve seen the injuries that can happen from e-bikes and scooters. That’s why when I saw this email in my inbox, I had to share. This is a free series of events all over the county.

The YMCA is partnering with Scripps Health, the San Diego Bicycle Coalition and local leaders to offer free, hands-on e-bike safety courses for youth ages 12–16. The training will be hosted across five YMCA locations and is designed to help young riders build confidence, learn the rules of the road and develop safe riding habits. Every participant will receive a free e-bike-rated helmet provided by Scripps Health. Learn more here.

June 23rd is National Hydration Day!

Did you know that today is National Hydration Day?

While our bodies are 70-ish% water, any sort of liquid that you consume is hydrating? That means milk, soda, juice, even coffee and tea are all hydrating.

That’s Per the Mayo Clinic. I’m not making it up.

Too much of a good thing? Yes, you can be overhydrated, and that can cause an electrolyte imbalance, which can lead to cloudy thinking, nausea, vomiting, headaches, and even muscle cramps. This isn’t gonna happen unless you’re drinking over 4 L of water an hour. Overhydration does not happen often, but it can occur.

If you’re looking for ways to add hydration to your day, here are a few ways:

  • Shaved Ice is a great hydrator! We have this machine to make shaved ice, and it gets used daily. With or without syrups, it’s really yummy.
  • Add high water, fruits, and vegetables to your diet. This includes melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, strawberries, and citrus.
  • If water is boring all by itself, try sugar-free powdered drink mixes or fruit-infused water. We have a pitcher similar to this.
  • We have a Soda Stream and have had one for over 10 years. It’s a great way to may carbonated water or DIY sodas. I love using the sugar-free powdered drink mixes to make fun, fruity sodas.
  • Carry and use a reusable water bottle or cup with a lid. Remember to wash it daily. Yes, even bottles containing water can still harbor bacteria.

Stress Free Kid’s Parties at Michaels!

Y’all know I love a craft party. And my kids are no different. They love to create stuff and express their creativity in different ways.

I found out this morning that you can host your kid’s birthday party at Michaels. All of the fun and creativity without any of the mess.

Starting at $149, you get:

  • 2 Hours
  • 8 Guests (including Guest of Honor)
  • All project supplies
  • A dedicated space that’s perfect for crafting and hosting
  • Team Member to lead craft activities

And right now they have three different party themes:
