A Word about Black Friday & Deals

767b680147814d41f35a64dae886c225I know a lot of you are excited about Black Friday shopping. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Because the shops are open, that means that some workers don’t get to have Thanksgiving dinner with their families. They spend the day stocking shelves and preparing the stores for Black Friday. Be kind and give them grace.
  2. Workers are people, not robots. Don’t be rude to them.
  3. Most workers do not want to work on Black Friday, because of the crowds, rush, and mass hysteria that Black Friday has become.

I will be posting some Black Friday deals, Cyber Monday Deals,  and Giving Tuesday. Some of these will be affiliate deals where I can earn a commission (gotta pay the bills somehow), some will be deals I think are great but I earn no commission, and Giving Tuesday deals and offers will be ways you can help local charities.

I won’t be turning the blog into OMG!!11!! BLACK FRIDAY!!11!!, but there will be one or two deals daily, or whenever they land in my email inbox that seems interesting or cool.

MyPoints: Earn Points with Ease While Grocery Shopping!

unnamed.gif

I’ve been a member of MyPoints for Eight Years! I just found out yesterday that MyPoints has a point-earning opportunity while we grocery shop!

unnamed.png

It’s super simple:

Add Deals to Your List: With hundreds of exclusive deals to add to your list from your favorite stores, keep your cash for when it counts.

Shop In-Store: Purchase products from Your Shopping List (at eligible stores) to earn Points. Act quickly before offers expire!

Upload Your Receipt & Earn Points: By purchasing select items and submitting your receipt, shopping is simplified.

These deals are only good at select stores, so check on each offer before adding it to ensure that you can redeem it at a store near you.  Here is an example of one of the offers:

Each offer has it’s own terms, including at which stores the offer is valid. While this won’t replace my use of any of my other apps, it is a nice addition.

5 Gifts for Dinosaur Fans!

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links. My whole family loves dinosaurs, I think the cat may even like them.

While searching through a couple sites yesterday, I found some awesome, funny, and cheeky dino-themed gifts that would make any dino lovers dream come true.

lady dino.jpgThis Victorian Velociraptor shirt is awesome- and because it’s on Zazzle, you can get it in any size, for any age. Prices vary, but through tonight at midnight save 40% off with coupon code CARDSANDMORE.

If fancy lady dinosaurs aren’t your speed, don’t fear, Zazzle has tons of cute, funny, even scary dinosaur shirts, including officially licensed images from Jurrasic Park.

dino lamp.jpgTwo Words: DINOSAUR LAMP. Ok, maybe I love this because I have an 8-year-old dinosaur lover in my house, but this lamp is 100% awesome. There are several options available at various price points, but tonight through midnight save 20% off with code CARDSANDMORE.

This next item I have and wear frequently. It’s this rocking T-rex skeleton necklace. Channel your inner Mrs. Frizzle!

Speaking of Mrs. Frizzle, while I was looking for new leggings on Amazon last night, I came across this company, Cow Cow. They have Dinosaur Leggings. Not just one or two patterns, but over a dozen different patterns from dino skeletons to realistic dinos, to cartoony looking dudes. I may have added several designs to my Amazon Wishlist.

Now the title of the post says TOP 5, but really, there are so many great dino gifts, that I had to share one more.

Dinopillow.jpgShutterfly has tons of great dinosaur-themed gifts, including school supplies (folders, binders, backpacks), customizable puzzles, aprons, cups, plates, and so much more!

Shutterfly is having a 50% sitewide sale that ends tonight at midnight! No Coupon Code Needed!!

Great Buys at Dollar Tree!

Teal Cat Quote Photo Collage.png

A few years ago I wrote about my top ten buys at 99Cents Only, but now that there is a Dollar Tree right next door to our house, I’ve had times to peruse the aisles, and I’ve come up with a list of Dollar Tree purchases that are a great deal!

1- Cards! Most discount stores sell off-brand greeting cards, but Dollar Tree sells Hallmark cards! Heartline by Hallmark are 2 for $1, and Expressions by Hallmark are $1 each! And they have tons of cute options for every and all occasion!

2- Party Supplies. From party favors, disposables (cups, silverware, plates, bowls, etc), DT has you covered. I love that they have plain colored stuff, in addition to themes, including baby shower supplies!

3- Craft Supplies. Y’all know how much crafting we do. Dollar Tree has a lot of good, name brand products. Crayola crayons, markers, colored pencils were spotted on my recent trip.  I also like their construction paper, pom poms, chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners), white glue, and small craft kits.

4- Hair accessories. Hair elastics, barrettes, brushes, combs, headbands, you name it! Besides the store brand, you can also find Goody brand, among others.

5-Kitchen Towels, Hot Pads, etc. If you are looking for a quick kitchen makeover on the cheap, Dollar Tree has a lot of great kitchen linens and kitchen decor. For $20, you can give your kitchen a little facelift without a trip to Home Depot!

6- Frozen Veggies. KT Farms and Pictsweet are two of the usual brands that DT stocks. Most bags are 12 ounces, which is a great size for $1!

7- Juice boxes and powdered drinks My kids like the small Juicy Juice juice boxes, so .25 or less each is my price point for juice boxes. Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Only both stock these. The powdered drink sticks sometimes vary by store, but we love the strawberry lemonade the best. And as a bonus, a few times a year there are coupons available. Oh, yeah, Dollar Tree accepts coupons too. Their coupon policy can be found here.

8-Push up/freezees/bolios pops. Whatever you call them, most Dollar Tree locations stock these in different varieties. Our local Dollar Tree sells Sonic Drive-in brand, and two types of Kool Pops. 10 pops in a box for $1 is a great deal, and it’s my price point (or less), so we stock up monthly.

If you need a lot of a specific item, you can order them from Dollartree.com, and have them shipped for free to your local store. Saves time, and shipping fees!

I’ve been shopping at Dollar Tree for years, and I’m stoked to be working with their affiliate program. Please be aware that if you click on any of the links above, I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase. You can see my disclosure policy here.

Make a Difference with Branch Out Market!

Recently the awesome folks at Branch Out Market reached out to me. Their message and products really spoke to me. Branch Out Market is a marketplace of incredible handmade items and tremendous hope. They represent nonprofits and artisan groups around the world in their efforts to reach a wider market. All of their partners/suppliers follow fair-trade practices, create jobs where needed most, and give back through lifting up!

Per Henry, “Don’t wake the Pangolin!”

They partner with nonprofits who are teaching a skill, working with women, young artisans, or refugees to help create economic opportunities and income streams for their projects. Branch Out Market spreads kindness and significance not only to their customers but also our non-profit partners, our producers from South Africa, India, all around the world! They don’t have sufficient access to a broader market like Branch Out Market does. Branch Out Market helps them focus on their missions and building jobs.

Henry has been sleeping with his new buddy.

We received this super cute Pangolin in the mail. He was knit in Zimbabwe by a lady called Gladys.

Henry loves Pangolins- There is one at the San Diego Zoo. They are protected animals, as they are trafficked heavily for their meat and scales (which are keratin). They are super cute little animals.

10% of the sale of the Gogo Olive products go to support the work of the Tikki Hywood Trust.

IMG_7417.jpgIn addition to these cute little hand knit stuffies, Branch Out Market sells home goods, holiday ornaments, clothing, accessories, and paper goods.

When you buy a simple gift from Branch Out Market, you are spreading kindness, too. Every product has a story; every purchase makes an impact!
