Quests require compasses and treasure chests, right?Why am I referring to them as “quests” and not “hustle“?

Hustling indicates moving quickly to earn money. This year, I’m doing a little bit every day, approximately 20 minutes on small surveys and small tasks. I may earn less daily, but overall, I can use small tasks to earn more through compounding.

Here are the ways I earned money, and how much I earned on each side quest in March. March was a slow month for side quests. I’ve been working on blog stuff, and then Spring Break!

  • MyPoints: I have earned $20 in Amazon gift cards, mostly from my daily surveys.
  • PaidViewPoint: $10.72 via PayPal
  • Fetch: $10.00 Amazon Gift Card
  • Rebates (WeStock, Peekage, Social Nature, and Aisle ): $6.50 between  Social Nature and Aisle.
  • TPT (I make worksheets/flashcards in my spare time for special ed classrooms). This side quest is definitely a slow trickle of money. I spent a lot of time over the summer making/uploading educational materials to my TPT account. $23.52

Who doesn’t love free stuff?

I’m always on the lookout for good, quality freebies. What I mean by that is items that have value. Not just monetarily, but also items that I will use. That can be anything from free food to a brand new washing machine and dryer.

Many of the freebie programs I have used in the past are no longer available (for example, Tryit and JCPenney Insiders were both acquired by Influenster), so those are not included in my list.

However, here are some that I use today and recommend to others.

This list does not include rebate apps or any other programs where you incur an out-of-pocket expense that is reimbursed later.

Home Tester Club is pretty cool. They are one of my new favorites. You sign up to review items, and they send you something. A lot of the time, they don’t notify you before shipping. You’ll get a package in the mail, and a few days later, you’ll get an email notifying you that you were selected and a link to the survey to complete once you have sampled the product. I’ve received all sorts of great skincare, cosmetics, food, and clothing from Home Tester Club.

Tryazon: The kids and I have been participating in Tryazon events for 8-ish years. We’ve gotten to try all sorts of fun toys, games, organizational products, and food.

Influenster: To get all of the products and free stuff offered by Influenster, you have to download the app.  When they send an offer for a free product, you have to jump on it right away. Their offers go fast! I’ve gotten clothing, cosmetics, perfume, and household appliances through Influenster.

Ripple Street: this company rebranded recently and was previously known as House Party. You can learn about them here. 

Smiley360  is a Word of Mouth (WOM) marketing website. Sign up for campaigns, and you will receive samples to use and coupons to share with friends. Report your sharing and earn points! I’ve received Laundry detergent (full-sized bottles), vitamins, supplements, tampons, and razors in the past.

Kitchen Insiders: Kitchen Insiders is an online community where food lovers can get a sneak peek at what we’re cooking up in the Kitchen. As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to try some of the latest and greatest snack foods for free in exchange for your honest product feedback. You can even earn points and badges for participating. Joining us in the Kitchen is completely free!

Can Fan Community: A vibrant place where we come together to learn, share, and appreciate the wonders of canned fruits and tomatoes! We’re committed to delivering the freshest, tastiest products, grown here in the USA!  Join the movement of individuals who appreciate the unmatched nutritional value, sustainability, and beyond! Life Hack Collective:  As part of our community, you’ll be able to participate in engaging Missions that may include trying new products, participating in discussions with your fellow community members, and sharing your opinion on your favorite social media platforms. By completing surveys, they’ll be able to best match you with Missions you’ll hopefully find interesting and fun.

If a company or brand offers you a freebie or a rebate to purchase an item on Amazon in exchange for a review- DECLINE THE OFFER. This is a common scam for new sellers on Amazon to receive reviews, which can put your Amazon account in jeopardy. 

Stack Influence: This is a website and app that offers you products with up to a 100% rebate after you post about it on social media. I wrote about it here. I’ve used it before, and reimbursement is quick.

Try New Fitness Classes with ClassPass for Free!

I’ve seen a few content creators on TikTok and IG talk about ClassPass recently, so I checked it out, and here is what I found. I just signed up for a free month myself, and I’m hoping that I can find something I enjoy that I can consistently go to!

I love to exercise, and I love trying new classes; however, I had to give up my gym membership in mid-2025 because I could only go once a week between my schedule and when the gym is open.

ClassPass is an app that helps you find cool new workout opportunities near you! Right now, ClassPass has a 30-day free trial so you can try different classes and fitness centers in your area to find a good fit. I love that ClassPass is affordable, too.

Receipt Hog: Hoggy Holiday Bonus Bash is Here

Receipt Hog is a great app for those starting out on a savings journey. It’s simple to use, and points rack up quickly.

You can download it here and get started.

In the app, snap pictures of all of your receipts from dining out to grocery trips and earn points that you can redeem for gift cards or money via Paypal. Reward options start as low as 1000 Points.

You can also connect your grocery and mass merchandiser accounts to earn extra points.  In addition to points, there is a game called Hog Slots, where you spin the wheel to win extra points.

Right now, through December 31, 2025, you can earn points and spins to earn extra points!

  • Upload 5 e-Receipts: 50 Spins
  • Upload 30 paper receipts: 25 Spins
  • Upload 15 Link Receipts- 25 Spins

September 2025: First of the Month Savings!

Back in the “olden times” of couponing, the first of the month was the best day for money savers. New coupons would be available to print; the first Sunday of the month (barring any holidays) would have a lot of new high-value coupons.

The first of the month means apps have refreshed their deals. For the complete list of apps I use and recommend, check out my apps page here. My top two favorites are Fetch and Ibotta.

Coupons.com is still around, but they don’t have too many high-value coupons. The same company owns the app Checkout51, which tends to have a better selection of offers.

Store apps have also refreshed their offers and coupons. If you have not downloaded your favorite stores’ apps, go do it. You are leaving money on the table.

Rebate apps like Aisle and  WeStock also refresh and add new offers on the first of each month.  Social Nature frequently adds new offers at the beginning of each month.

If you are a drugstore shopper, check your drugstore apps for new coupons- I suggest “clipping” the coupons for brands you like as soon as you see them. They may go on sale sometime during the month, and you’ll have your savings locked and loaded!

Instead of reaching for our newspapers and scissors, we use our phones to select our offers. Think of modern couponing as saving both time and money!

Merryfield- The app that rewards you for healthy eating!

Have you heard of Merryfield? It’s a cashback app that partners with healthy food brands (the complete list can be found here) to offer you cashback when you make purchases.

What I like about Merryfield is that it is not store-specific in most cases, but it does have a few store-specific deals.

The app also offers to automatically connect and scan your receipts from retailers, including Amazon, Instacart, Target, Walmart, Sprouts, Kroger, and Albertsons.

You can select specific offers to earn specific point values. See the picture with a few of the deals.

My favorite is that you can select from the list of brands here, make purchases, and receive points or cashback.

Points and cashback can be redeemed in the app for gift cards. Currently, there are 23 gift cards to choose from. Redemptions start at $5 (5000 points).

Rebates have been around forever.

I remember my grandmother doing rebates when I was a kid. However, nowadays, you don’t need to send in a form with proof of purchase/UPC and a receipt; most rebates can be completed online or via text.

Sometimes you get lucky and get 100% back rebates, making your item free. You will find a lot of those with apps and websites like:

Ripple Street has tons of reFUNd programs where you can buy a product and receive the purchase price back. These are only available via their app.

If you consume alcohol, check out BYBE.  It is available in most states. This app has rebates for beer, wine, and liquor.
