I know we just finished school and there is a vast ocean of time before we need to buy supplies; however, Walmart has already dropped the prices on classroom supplies.
Seriously, from Crayola markers, to pencils, Filler paper, spiral-bound notebooks, highlighters, and crayons. I’ve already placed my order!
And if you aren’t sure what is going to be on your kids’ back-to-school list, here are a few things that classrooms always need:

I’m all about fun, free (and cheap) activities for kids. JCPenney has two events coming up that fit the bill! Check out these fun, free crafts from JCPenney’s.
Visit the Kids Zone inside JCPenney on August 8, 2026, from 11 AM to Noon, and kids can create an axolotl pouch. The Craft includes a pencil pouch, markers, and a small notebook. Great for back to school!
If you are busy that day, there is an event in September!
On September 12, 2026, from 11 AM to Noon, kids can come create a cabin picture frame. This craft includes wood sticks, foam pieces, glue dots, a marker, and a magnet.

I’m a mom of two, and for us, that means a near-constant parade of fundraisers once the first month of school has passed. I usually donate money to the school after I get my first paycheck after school starts.
There is only so much candy, plastic junk, wrapping paper, and spirit wear one family needs. I’ve been conducting research on other fundraisers and have found two possibilities that do not involve selling anything.
Fiber/clothing/rag recycling: There are a few companies that recycle fiber (like yarn or fabric), clothing, and rags (old towels and sheets), and they have fundraising programs. Here are just a few companies that I have found:
If you are interested in doing a shoe recycling fundraiser:
If your school or other non-profit has done either of these, I’d love to hear about how they have worked in the past- Please leave a comment!
My youngest is a fashionista, and the current obsession is jewelry, specifically bracelets. While we usually make them together, sometimes it’s just easier to have a few on my “order later” list on Amazon and slip a few into the cart.
Here are some of the accessories that I’ve picked up for this year’s back-to-school.
Ornaland Heishi Stretch Bracelets for Women Surfer Stackable Stretch Bracelets
This is my favorite stack- Right now it’s less than $5.00 for a stack of $8!
If you like wearing the Nazar (evil eye), this next stack is right up your alley.
It’s less than $5 for 14 bracelets- that’s a bargain.
These multi-stack bracelet sets don’t have to be worn together.
We’ve got a bracelet display rack similar to this one, which is perfect for storing bracelets without getting them tangled up.
I also like to pick up bracelet sets for holidays. These are great in a pinch for spirit days, such as:

Rebates have been around forever.
I remember my grandmother doing rebates when I was a kid. However, nowadays, you don’t need to send in a form with proof of purchase/UPC and a receipt; most rebates can be completed online or via text.
Sometimes you get lucky and get 100% back rebates, making your item free. You will find a lot of those with apps and websites like:
Ripple Street has tons of reFUNd programs where you can buy a product and receive the purchase price back. These are only available via their app.
If you consume alcohol, check out BYBE. It is available in most states. This app has rebates for beer, wine, and liquor.
Here are a few current rebates I found out about this week while starting my Back to school shopping:
