Try New Fitness Classes with ClassPass for Free!

I’ve seen a few content creators on TikTok and IG talk about ClassPass recently, so I checked it out, and here is what I found. I just signed up for a free month myself, and I’m hoping that I can find something I enjoy that I can consistently go to!

I love to exercise, and I love trying new classes; however, I had to give up my gym membership in mid-2025 because I could only go once a week between my schedule and when the gym is open.

ClassPass is an app that helps you find cool new workout opportunities near you! Right now, ClassPass has a 30-day free trial so you can try different classes and fitness centers in your area to find a good fit. I love that ClassPass is affordable, too.

Whether you want to sweat it out with a HIIT class, unwind with a massage, or stream a yoga class from your home, ClassPass makes prioritizing your health and wellness easy.

ClassPass gives you worldwide access to thousands of top-rated gyms, fitness studios, salons, and spas.

Project Pan 2026: Use It Up, Wear It Out, Or Do Without

After seeing so many people with varying levels of success in 2025, I’ve decided that in 2026, I’ll be joining in on Project Pan.

What is Project Pan? It started out with cosmetic wearers wanting to “hit pan,” meaning the metal cup is pressed in, but this phrase has been applied to any sort of “use it up” beauty product challenge.

The term can be used for any sort of beauty product, skincare, haircare, or even cleaning supplies.

It’s a more modern way of saying, “Make do, use it up, go without.”

My Project Pan 2026 goals:

  • Go through the cosmetics and skin care I have, discard anything expired/smelly/separated.
  • Organize my cosmetics and skin care so that it is easy to see and use.
  • Keep track of what I use daily, and make sure to rotate unused items in as I “hit pan”.
  • I have cosmetics spatulas like these to help scoop out any liquids/gels that are stubbornly clinging to the sides of bottles and jars.
  • I will also be cleaning my makeup brushes more often. Some of them I’ve used very vivid colors, and they really need a deep cleaning before I use them again.

I will not be purchasing any new:

  • Perfumes/Body Sprays/EDT
  • Face Wash
  • Exfoliants
  • Masks
  • Serums
  • Eye creams
  • Lotions (I don’t use lotion too often to start with)
  • Body Wash

Things I will be purchasing:

  • Shampoo and Conditioner- With three people in my house, we go through a bottle of each about once a month. I’ll be using my free $10 from CVS Care Pass each month, combined with deals and Extra Care Bucks offers, to buy Shampoo and conditioner. Hopefully, I’ll get some good deals and be able to stock up and not have to use my $10 on hair care products each month. I currently have 3 bottles of shampoo and no conditioner in my stockpile.
  • Deodorant: I use a specific type of deodorant, and it’s not on sale very often, so I usually only buy 1 stick at a time. Upside- a stick lasts 3-4 months. If I see it on sale, I might buy 2.

Talk Back: Have you ever done anything like this before?

How I’m Earning Extra Money in 2026 (& You Can Too)

As prices continue to increase and wages stay the same, some of you, like me, need to find a few ways to make a little extra money.

I’m not talking hundreds of dollars a week, I’d like to make an extra $20-$30 a week without having to DoorDash, drive for a ride share, or be an Instacart shopper. Any of those would take me away from my kids and cause me to spend money on childcare. I’ll be doing some side hustles from the comfort of my couch (or desk in my bedroom).

My plan for 2026 consists of using the following methods. I’ve posted links for as many sources as I have. Some of these links may be affiliate/referral links that may give me additional points or a few dollars as a reward. These points/rewards help me pay for my website hosting fees and occasionally a cup of coffee.

Surveys: If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you know I love me a good survey.

MyPoints: Do 4-5 short surveys per day. I’ve been doing it since Thanksgiving break, and I’m able to earn the equivalent of a $5 gift card in about 40 minutes. Sometimes I earn more points, but 4-5 surveys in one sitting while I watch an episode of something on TV is pretty decent.

Paid View Point: They email me a few times a day to remind me I have new surveys to complete. My plan for 2026 is to do the surveys as I am notified via email. The cash-out threshold is $10, and that’s pretty easy to get to.

Pinecone Research: I’ve been using them for as long as I can remember, probably close to 10 years. I receive notifications via email every couple of days, take a few surveys, earn some points, and cash out about $10 every month or so. It’s quick, and it’s pretty easy. You can save up your points to purchase stuff from their digital catalog, or you can have them send you funds viaPayPal or Venmo.

PRC, Advanced Opinions, Focus Group Connection, and Ascendency Research are all companies that run market research, research studies, and group bulletin boards for brands and companies. I apply for as many as I can that I think I would be a good fit for and that fit in my schedule. And I try to post many of these opportunities on my blog when I feel they would be of interest to my readers. My goal for 2026 is to do at least one of these per month, as long as it pays over $150.

Verasight: Verasight is a company that works with all sorts of people and companies. A lot of the time, it’s people who are doing surveys as part of their PhD or master’s research. The surveys are quick, often less than 10 minutes, and they pay about a dollar each. Cash out is $10, and I am able to cash out about once a month. For 2026, I am going to continue to do surveys with them, and my goal is to make a payout every two weeks.

Beyond surveys, another way that I make money passively is through the Small Business Knowledge Center. I have been a part of them for I think about 10 years at this point, and I send them my junk mail and my junk email, and occasionally do missions for them. It’s a pretty easy way to get rid of your junk mail and earn a $20 gift card about every two or three months. When we refinanced last, it led to a large increase in junk mail, and I was able to do a couple of special projects for SBKC, and I was able to earn an extra $40.

This is one of the most passive ways I make extra money. In 2025, I made $120 from SBKC, which is the most I have ever made. We just got tons of junk mail, and my inbox was slammed with spam.

Another way that I will be earning a little bit extra in 2026 is by taking advantage of companies that are looking for micro influencers. These don’t tend to pay cash, but they offer free products in exchange for social media posts or reviews on social media. I can get free products that I might otherwise not be able to afford, but need or want. A couple that I use is Stack Influence, Ripple Street, Influenster, Tryazon, Home Tester Club, and Smiley360.

Getting free products saves me money, and posting a review or something on social media will take me less than an hour. I tend not to review products that are below $30 unless it’s something I really want or need, because my time is valuable. I don’t want to spend half an hour to 45 minutes making social media posts for a three-dollar bottle of juice.

And for 2026, I will be bringing back my monthly posts where I disclose how much I made each month. My reason for this is two-fold: Transparency for my readers, and to prove to myself that I can do it! I’ll be keeping a Google Sheet to track my earnings.

StackInfluence: Free Products for Micro-Influencers

I’ve been around the micro-influencer sphere for a while.

There have been review programs for influencers since the beginning, and a lot of them have closed due to shady practices or blatant disregarding of website TOS’s.

StackInfluence is different, and pretty easy in my opinion. You sign up, select a campaign, purchase the item via the link provided, review the item as outlined in the campaign, and you are refunded your purchase price via Paypal or Venmo.

I’ve done a few campaigns with them (including this horrible upholstry stain remover), and reimbursement is super quick- less than an hour after you verify your social media post. And reviews can be honest. I try not to sugarcoat reviews, because if you are spending money on something I tell you is good, you better believe that it’s good. That stain remover was not. It was stanky and made my couch look worse.

Most items are for sale on Amazon, but there are a few on Walmart.com too.  I tend to redeem my rewards/rebate app rewards for Amazon Gift Cards and add them to my account, so when I order stuff through apps like StackInfluence, I’m not paying out of my own pocket for them!

Here are just a few of the newer campaigns I have my eye on:

I have a few artists in my family who would enjoy these Posca markers- If you’ve never used Poscas before, they are amazing Acrylic Paint pens!

And there is a certain Cryptid lover in my house who would love this BigFoot shirt.

If you have an Instagram or Tiktok account and you’d love to try new products, check out StackInfluence.

Looking for Frugal Fun for Winter Holidays? Check out Neighborhood Light Displays!

This is one of our family traditions, even since Bubs was a baby. My brother and I grew up doing this, too. I’m not sure if winter holiday light displays on residential properties are big in other parts of the country, but here in Southern California, it’s serious business. Some of these houses put the Griswold’s to shame.

Here are our family’s favorite neighborhoods to visit:

East County:

  • Jingle Bell Hill (also known as Pepper Dr. Lights). Solomon Ave./Pegeen Pl. and surrounding area. Off 67 & Bradley. Dec. 8-26, Mon-Th 6-9 pm, Fri-Sun 6-10 pm.
  • 10248 Paseo Palmas Dr., Nicknamed “Tinsel Town”. Dec. 1-25, 5:30-9 pm. Most of the houses on this street are very well decorated with lights and moving displays! They have a Facebook page too!
  •  Starlight Circle, East and West Glendon Circles. Through December 26th, 7-10 pm. This is extremely popular!  Starlight Circle even has a Facebook page! Starlight Circle has gotten so popular in recent years that the neighboring high school has opened its parking lot. You can park your car and walk through.

There are some neighborhoods that we have added to our list this year. Most of them have been around for years, but we have not visited them yet.

  •  Christmas Card Lane in Rancho Penasquitos 9190 Oviedo St, San Diego, CA 92129
  • Christmas Park in Clairemont Jamar Dr & Lana Dr, San Diego, CA 92117
  • Merry-tage Court in Scripps Ranch Merritage Ct & Stonebridge Pkwy, San Diego, CA 92131

And if you are looking for some family fun beyond a car ride and light peeping, Groupon has a few deals on Holiday light events, including Jingle Jets: USS Midway Museum’s Dazzling Holiday Light Display and San Diego Bay Parade of Lights Cruise on Luxury Yacht Peregrine.

Looking for a Gift for the Readers in Your Life?

I’ve got a couple of adult readers on my gift-giving list each year.

And it can be hard to find a book to give as a gift, but I recently discovered Book of the Month.

You can give a 3, 6, or 9-month membership, depending on what works for your budget.

Or, if you are the reader in your life, check it out for yourself! They have a pretty decent deal going right now: Join Book of the Month and choose your first book for $9.99 or make your pick later.

FINE PRINT: By clicking the checkbox above, you agree to Book of the Month’s Terms of use and Privacy policy. You also acknowledge that you are signing up for a recurring monthly subscription. Unless you skip the month or cancel your membership using our site or app prior to the 21st of each month, you will be renewed for $16.99 plus tax next month and one credit will be added to your account redeemable for your next book. As part of your $5 enrollment offer, you acknowledge that you cannot cancel until after you are renewed at least once. As part of this transaction, you may see a $21.99 temporary hold on your payment method, which will be released in a couple of days.
